Can I connect my Notebook PC to a DVI-D to USB ?

vga usb connector
TimBrazer.com asked:

I have an HP Pavillion DV6605us laptop. I have an external monitor VGA port. I would like to connect my 19 inch LCD monitor, with a DVI-D port to my laptop.

My laptop only has a VGA port to connect to but it does have open USB ports. Can I use a DVI connector to USB connector to get digital signal or would this product from eBay do the trick located below. I am not using multiple monitors just the external LCD. Will it give me digital signal?

  • Paul:

Newegg sells an adaptor similar to the cable you see on Ebay. It is a VGA to DVI adaptor and it should work perfectly.

You should not use your USB for video – period.

Buy it from Newegg because its cheaper, easier (than a long cable) and its Newegg!

    GL!

  • USB will not work with a monitor, ever! Just get the adaptor cable you found or a little adaptor made for the job.
