Can you use a Wifi USB Connector to connect a laptop to the internet?

I wish to get internet on my laptop, but I only have 1 wired modem. I have a Wifi USB Connector that I bought for Wifi on my DS, but can I somehow use this to get internet on my laptop?
yes my laptop has wifi G and I use a USB wifi N card. Linux laptops often have to use USB wi fi connections.
