A Look at mini usb extender in Where to buy a very short A to A USB extender?

mini usb extender:

Question by Joseph U: Where to buy a very short A to A USB extender?
I am trying to cram a thumb drive and mini hub into a small container. Both will fit, just not when the USB thrumb drive is connected to the hub (which is what I want). So I think a few inch extender USB A to A should do the trick.

I am just not having any luck locating A to A extenders that are less then 3 feet much less 3 inches.

Thanks in advance for any help offered. Links appreciated.

I have a suspicion that you won’t find this “off the rack” but will have to custom build one…your local PC shop should be able to make one for you.

Sony HDR-FX1 firewire port repair

UPDATE: This part # is A-1073-874-A FP-964 BOARD, COMPLETE and can be bought online for about . Thanks to Highlight0427 for finding it. My camera became difficult to connect to my PC, you could wiggle the cable sometimes, it got errors, and then stopped altogether. The connector would scratch and click when you plugged in the cord. RULE 1, use a cord that isn’t tight or difficult to insert, and don’t put pressure on the cable while inserted, I learned this the hard way. I was able to determine the port was the problem, but was apprehensive about attempting a repair on such an investment. My mind was changed when I looked and Sony’s repair cost started at 0+. This camera is about 2 years old, with maybe 20 hours of use and maybe 2 dozen connections with the pc. I am really disturbed at how cheap the firewire port is on a camera that cost several thousand dollars. Plus I wanted to connect a hard drive for direct recording, can’t imagine doing that now. I searched for a replacement part. www.partstore.com has 663 parts for this camera, and prices look reasonable, but there are no photos or clear descriptions. If you know this part(number), please comment and I will place it on here for others (as well as buy one). I purchased a new firewire port from www.mouser.com for under . You have to love a company that will let you buy 3 or 3000. The part number is 154-AVR20-E, it is slightly larger and requires some modification, but the pin outs match perfectly. You have to

Transcript of this video Hi, I’m John Harrington and we’re going to break out and break down the wide variety of equipment we use to deliver images to our clients. Next we are going to show you one of the equipment kits we use when we are traveling on assignment. Each kit is different and has a very specific purpose. So lets take a look. One other thing that goes with us everywhere we go is our laptop. It’s in an Encase Satchel, a really nice slim satchel for everything that we have in here. We have an 80 GB portable drive, that’s a USB drive. Also in here are firewire cords. One of the nice things is when we’re at a hotel, we can plug the airport express into our hotel and we don’t have to be tethered to the desk at the hotel. For the airline that’s considerate, we can plug this right into the power at our seats, or we can put the cigarette lighter adapter on and use it with a cigarette lighter. Here’s one of our two firewire card readers. Here’s a second firewire card reader. This is the new Lexar Card Reader; this is a SanDisk reader; two different brands, two different technologies, similar functions. This however is the newest one that lets us read the UDMA high-speed cards, which really takes advantage of the firewire 800 throughput. A power adapter for the laptop of course, a secondary battery. Here’s our Firewire 800, we use a g-tech drive. That’s really great because it doesn’t require an external power source

Camera Rig (just getting started…haha)

Update: This photo was taken a while back and the amount of camera gear I have has grown by leaps and bounds (not sure yet if this is a good or bad thing). You can see the new gear photo by going here.

Original Desc: Well here it is, my camera gear…all indivudally noted and all strewn out for the world to see. 90% of it was bought in the last 10 months. It all fits in the camera bags at the top and the bags are normally packed to the brim with the gear.

My wife is a very patient and kind soul but I think I’m at the limit for a good long while, when I was arranging this stuff on the bed to take photo of it in our guest room she just about snapped seeing everything laying there. If I buy much else I will probably be justifiably shot, so if I stop suddenly posting to Flickr you’ll know I likely got a new piece of gear and was subsequently killed.

I enjoy a number of hobbies (music, cars, cycling, camping, boating, technology and more), but one of the things I like about photography is it’s a hobby that can be incorperated into every other hobby and aspect of life. In photography I’ve found something that I really, really enjoy and is a way I can have a semi-creative outlet for my soul. But as cool as photography is, music is still my main passion and I think that’s the way it will always be…

World’s Shortest USB Cable

go.tagjag.com – I hate having super-long USB cables when all I really need is one that’s an inch or two long. It’s such a waste of space, especially when I’m traveling. Thank goodness the folks at ThinkGeek have the iStubz to charge my iPhone with! twitter.com – chris.pirillo.com

live.pirillo.com – This video is a plea to all device manufacturers in the world out there who insist on creating proprietary USB cables. I have a huge bin full of USB cables that I have NO idea what they go to.

Found mini usb adapter in How can I run a second display from my 2005 PPC Mac Mini? USB adapter worked with MacBook Air …?

mini usb adapter:

Question by Howard W: How can I run a second display from my 2005 PPC Mac Mini? USB adapter worked with MacBook Air …?
I used a Diamond BVU160 adapter with my Macbook Air to enable a second external display. Worked fine. I cannot get it to work with the used Mac Mini (2005, PPC machine) I am now using. I sure miss my second monitor. Any ideas?

Best answer:

Answer by dr_fyzziks
I just purchased a BVU160, and according to the side of the box:

“System Requirements: Desktop or laptop PC with 1.2 GHz or higher processor clock speed, with an Intel Core 2 Duo or equivalent power CPU OR Macintosh supporting Intel-Mac.”

In other words, the BVU160 drivers will not work on PowerPC Macs, only Intel-based ones like your MacBook Air. The “power” in the System Requirements above refers to Windows PCs (as in a similarly-powered AMD machine would work).

Where did you get your Mac drivers from anyways? The included CD and the link on the Diamond site are Windows-only drivers.
