it is a universal serial bus cable USB for short. all external devices use a USB cable to connect to computers now-a-days. just plug it in. it will install itself and it should open up the folder of the camera. just make a folder and highlight all pics, then click and drag them to the new folder onto the pc.

I think I understand what you are looking for , there are small wireless usb senders , which will work , based on the requirment for them. making something which is a dirivitive or an edit of a device in most peices of technology doesnt work , and usually just ends up costing money

I used a Diamond BVU160 adapter with my Macbook Air to enable a second external display. Worked fine. I cannot get it to work with the used Mac Mini (2005, PPC machine) I am now using. I sure miss my second monitor. Any ideas?

I just purchased a BVU160, and according to the side of the box:

“System Requirements: Desktop or laptop PC with 1.2 GHz or higher processor clock speed, with an Intel Core 2 Duo or equivalent power CPU OR Macintosh supporting Intel-Mac.”

In other words, the BVU160 drivers will not work on PowerPC Macs, only Intel-based ones like your MacBook Air. The “power” in the System Requirements above refers to Windows PCs (as in a similarly-powered AMD machine would work).

Where did you get your Mac drivers from anyways? The included CD and the link on the Diamond site are Windows-only drivers.

Bought a new USB (2.0) External Hard Drive today. The clever salesman sold me a USB mini hub (on special!) which I only just discovered, upon getting home, is an old USB 1.1 mini hub.

Will the 1.0 hub pass through a 2.0 signal at 2.0 speeds?

I don’t want to open the thing unless I’m sure, because I’m planning on returning it.

Return it! It will not pass 2.0 signal.
Your hard disk will work, but at 1.0 speed.

micro usb connector:

Question by Pat: Can I use a standard camera cable with the Sanyo Katana LX?
A friend has asked me to buy a data cable for her, but looking at photos of it on the web it appears to use the mini or micro USB connector .. is this true and would a standard cable work with the Katana?
I checked the port and it appears to correspond to the micro-B standard. My revised question is: would any cable that has standard USB/micro-B USB connectors work or could there be something specific that requires a particular manufacturer’s cable?

The tech specs for the Katana show that it has connectivity with a built-in micro-USB connector.

Response to additional:
Should be nothing special. They specify that standard in the spec sheet, so that means that should conform to all of the micro USB specs.

Personally, I have had really good luck with a couple of those adapter kits that have a variety of ends to fit all.
