Mini USB Connector

So, I got a Kodak Easyshare MD853 for Christmas. It won’t charge using the USB cord and a computer. The light won’t turn on or anything. I don’t have the wall charger as I just got it a day or so ago, but I’m hearing problems about those as well.
Many people I’ve talked to have said to have the same problem.
Also they’ve said things about the quality of the pics. I haven’t been able to take any pictures with it yet, so I can’t confirm that, but what have your experiences been with this camera?

I just got this camera not long ago, and this is no where in the manual directions. If you familiar with this camera, please let me know. I called Kodak and they were closed for the weekend.
