Mini USB Connector

So, I got a Kodak Easyshare MD853 for Christmas. It won’t charge using the USB cord and a computer. The light won’t turn on or anything. I don’t have the wall charger as I just got it a day or so ago, but I’m hearing problems about those as well.
Many people I’ve talked to have said to have the same problem.
Also they’ve said things about the quality of the pics. I haven’t been able to take any pictures with it yet, so I can’t confirm that, but what have your experiences been with this camera?

When i plug it into the USB cord its light shows green, then it flashes red and goes out. if i leave it plugged into the USB then it get really HOT. it starts to get so hot it hurts to hold it. I do not own a wall charger because i just got it but i think it should work w/o one. It won’t even turn on anymore. If you have any ideas please share!
